Job Description:

Ireland has enjoyed bilateral relations with Ethiopia since 1994, when its Embassy in Addis Ababa was first opened. Ireland’s engagement in Ethiopia is guided by the Government of Ireland’s general foreign policy which seeks to promote a more secure, just, fair and sustainable world. Irish Aid, Ireland’s programme for international development, envisages a world where people are empowered to overcome poverty and hunger, and fully realise their rights and potential. Irish Aid in Ethiopia therefore aims to benefit the poorest and most vulnerable sections of society.

The programme has been developed with a strong focus on tackling hunger and under-nutrition, improving maternal health, strengthening civil society, supporting livelihoods to respond to the challenge of climate change and working with the most vulnerable through social protection programmes. Given Ethiopia’s vulnerability to drought, humanitarian assistance is also a key focus. The Embassy also provides a consular service to Irish citizens, and visa services to those wishing to travel to Ireland.
The Embassy of Ireland/Irish Aid is now recruiting for the following three posts;
  1. Humanitarian Programme Manager to support the work of the Social Protection team
  2. Programme Officer to support the work of the Social Protection and Humanitarian team
  3. Consular Officer to provide general administrative support, including the processing of visas and passports
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
  • Each position is on a fixed term contract, subject to a probation period, and will be offered to the successful candidate.
  • The selected candidate will be provided an attractive remuneration package.
