Job Description:

PRIN International Consultancy and Research Services is an Ethiopian international private limited company, which has been growing rapidly since its establishment in 2006 . The Firm houses many experienced and talented national and international specialists in the areas of Education, Health, Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Management, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Its main office is based in Addis Ababa and has branches Bahir Dar, Gondar, Hawassa, Adama, and Dire Dawa in (Ethiopia), and Nirobi (Kenya). PRIN works independently as well as in partnership with similar organizations to deliver consultancy, research, institutional development, and project management services to a range of national and international clients. Currently, PRIN is working under a long-term contract with USAID/Transform: MELA, USAID/EPMES, and others. These contracts involve lots of capcity building programmes and project evaluation activities.
For this purpose, PRIN is currently looking for hiring specialists (national or international) who are vibrant, energetic, ambitious, experienced, highly competent and motivated to grow on their careers  in order to fill in the following positions.
Position : Gender Specialist (Female)
Duties and Responsibilities: The Gender specialist is directly answerable to the General Manager of the Firm. The Candidate, without prejudice to the responsibilities of the General Manager of the Firm, shall have the responsibilities to:
 
  • Serve as the prime focal person for gender-rlated activties at PRIN and its clients (USAD/Trasform:MELA, USAID/EPMES).
  • Participate in different capacity building programmes;
  • Ensure the feasibility of gender projects using different project appraisal dimensions/criteria, and prepare project proposals upon approval;
  • Work with the PRIN team in developing, implementing and monitoring gender sensitive annual work plans and budgets as well as associated deliverables and results/outputs.;
  • Coordinate gender related trainings and health communication at all levels;
  • ·Developing and/or adapting gender sensitive communication materials and targeted health communication materials including training materials and BCC materials with USAID/ TRANSFORM MELA Health Team, USAID/EPMES team, other clients;
  • ·Participate in the gender and women specific partner and stakeholder meetings, workshops and technical working groups as necessary;
  • .Prepare analytical reports, success stories, lessons learned related to gender mainstreaming based on USAID Gender Mainstreaming guideline;
  • Support mainstreaming of gender in day to day implementation of USAID/Transform MELA project and other projects;
  • Produce, document and share program implementation reports, supportive supervision as well as mentoring reports as per the standard format;
  • Ensure that feedback from supportive supervision visits, review meetings and related forums are applied in the facilities for continuous improvement in gender and health communication interventions;
  • Identify areas of best practices and success stories and collaborate with Regional Managers of PRIN and communication team to produce the practice report and stories;
  • Closely work with PRIN and USAID/Transform MELA Monitoring and Evaluation team to document performance, develop data base and update it regularly.
Perform any other task assigned by the General Manager.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience: MA in Gender Studies, public health, Health promotion, Economics, sociology and monitoring and evaluation, health project management, social work, or related fields. PhD in similar disciplines is advantageous. The specialist should have significant gender related experience of diverse governmental and/or bilateral and multilateral donor funded gender based projects. Those who are aware of USAID policies and procedures have competitive advantage. The applicant is required to  have In-depth knowledge, demonstrated experience and understanding of gender equality issues in Ethiopia, especially related to the sexual and reproductive health sector, including sexual and gender-based violence, early forced marriage and other harmful traditional practices; and issues related to women economic empowerment, including private sector development and be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have an excellent knowledge in USAID Gender Framework, communication skills (written and spoken English), analytical skill of the current gender situation of the country, reporting, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; and finally proven ability to produce results. The candidate should have a minimum 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in delivering gender mainstreaming technical advice, training as well as program evaluation in Ethiopia or abroad. The specialist should be able to present (name and addresses of) at least three gender based projects that have been monitored or evaluated in the last three years.
