Job Description:

In March 2018 the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s (SDC) Operation’s Committee approved the release of the call for proposals on “Sustainable Water Management for Food Security and Nutrition in Agriculture and Food Systems”. A grant for preparatory work including further feasibility and stakeholder assessments and the elaboration of a full project proposal/project document has been approved. 
The consortium of Wetlands International, Caritas Switzerland (CaCH), the International Water Management Institute (IMWI) and Hydrosolutions Ltd., with Wetlands International as  the lead agency, won the call for proposals “Sustainable Water Management for Food Security and Nutrition in Agriculture and Food Systems” opened by the Global Programme Food Security (GPFS) in August 2018. 
The project proposal/project document, including feasibility and stakeholder assessments, to be developed with this project will form the basis for the contribution contract between Wetlands International and SDC. 
Scope, deliverables and deadlines
In general the consultant supports the collection and analysis of data for the development of the project proposal for SDC’s initiative on Sustainable Water Management for Food Security and Nutrition in Agriculture and Food Systems with a focus on the Central Rift Valley in Ethiopia. Length of Contract 
The contract shall be 6.5 man-days for the collection of data, analysis of data and incorporation of the data in a joint assessment report. The contract shall start on October 22nd and shall be completed by December 24th2018.

Job Requirements:

  • More than 10 years experience in water resources management related to agriculture and ecosystems
  • Ability to collect and analyse data and information on water resources, agricultural, nature conservation practices/policies/ governance mechanisms within a short time frame
  • More than 10 years experience working across different stakeholder groups from smallholders to agricultural firms, relevant governmental organisations at woreda and central level in Ethiopia
Reports to: Proposal development bid leader and works closely with Wetlands International Eastern Africa responsible staff
